Ahmad requested expansion:
NHS Lite
(I like the title - something akin to healthy margarine isn't it ;-))
will provide:
Care at the point of death:
Diagnosis of terminal state
Palliation of symptoms
Drugs required to relieve pain and promote comfort
Nursing care to the end and beyond
Such care to be provided at home/hospice/hospital
(each available whatever cause of illness)
Seamless communications
Smooth progress to undertakers +/- religion
Care at the point of birth:
(Note diagnosis of cyesis only available under NHS Pro)
Antenatal care on demand (recommended x3 per 40wks)
Midwife supervision during labour
Medical intervention as needed (includes paeds)
Analgesia
(water and home births are NHS Pro)
Paediatric assessment in first 24 hours
Midwife and HV visits in first 10 days
(Routine doctor visits NHS Pro only)
Anything in between?
Sound too cynical?
Just a reflection on an odd day - only one patient really needed real
medical attention, the rest were a mixture of social, housing,
snot-and-grot-type problems that even stretched the general practice
definition of medicine.
