Hello Anita,
Perhaps oestrogens does lead to longevity and it would be discriminatory to
deny it to men. Testicular atrophy whilst alarming for younger men may be an
equivalent to having prophylaxis against prostatic cancer! However, 18m of
oestrogens (and I presume unopposed ERT!) may tarnish his virility, which
Viagra may reverse. Unopposed HRT is substantially cheaper than Viagra and
prescribing either to this man would be contentious.....at this present
time. As it is now politically correct to examine a third way (sic), natural
phytoestrogens may be a compromise, a chinese root herb - 'dong-quay' is
allegedly rich in the substance.
Best wishes,
CK-Warrington PCAPS
