Ok this may be impractical but may I propose a total legalisation of all
drugs. Let's take the current situation. In my area I can go into any number
of pubs/clubs and get whatever I fancy from straight resin/grass to cocaine,
heroin, "E's", Poke (Viagra) even some of the newer designer variations.
Cost not prohibitive if you have income. No income and costs raised from Joe
Public by crime. The fact that all these are not legal enhances the value
both monetary and in terms of street cred. It does not affect availability
one jot.
Now take the legalisation. Drug shops would spring up to cater. Costs would
be cheaper. Users could be monitored by approved medical personnel.
Unemployed could get drugs free or reduced cost. Crime would drop. Problems
may be the influx of foreigners (as in Holland) and perhaps the escalation
of drug use (however pretty high now!). Maybe even get tax revenue to HMG???
Comments?? (Quickly covers his delicate bits!)
