Sleaford, eh? Just round the corner from Wisbech
Gawd, does this all sound familiar!!
I started a practice in Wisbech a couple of years ago, Rob. Very civilised
arrangement with the two existing practices in the growing town. Their
lists big enough. New practice needed. In walks yours truly, and two years
later up and running. Mind you, my set up time was eased by being a
"fixed-share partner" in one of the existing practices while I got the
building built etc.
Even so, times in the first couple of years were hard. But rapidly growing
list size led in 1995 to my finding a new partner. In came Ray; 18 months
to parity; no capital buy-in (negative equity premises!)
I shared the wrench you describe. Letting go of the control. A sense that
my investment of energy was being given away.
Yet I also agree with Hotch; the buzz of creating the practice, designing
and building the premises, working out new ways of sharing clinical and
paper work in the practice; I wouldn't have missed this for the world.
Life is cool.
