One of the rules of security is not to depend on something which is
neither enforceable nor likely to be regarded as remotely sensible
by most users and most judges.
We were told that we must have a dedicated line for GP Links, back
in the days when our legacy software was supported by a company that
could make Links work...
I pointed out that it was unnecessary, was told not to bother about
these technical issues, and then plugged a phone and a fax card into
the same line, with of course no problems at all.
The same applies to any telephone line.
