My last PCI network cards cost £18.50
If you only have two PCs you can connect them with a single
crossover UTP5 cable
If you have a small number say 4 then using thin coax Ethernet
which doesn't need a hub may be cheaper than buying a hub and th
e larger number of cables needed for UTP5
If you have ISDN, or one good modem and want to share it, then a
very clever hub with ISDN connection and router built in may be a
good bet.
THey are expensive, but less so than an ISDN TA card for each PC.
If you wish to continue family life then you might consider a
wireless network, Prof Nicholas Negroponte relates that this allows
him to bring his laptop to the sofa, which he and his family like -
