I was worried about libeling the Local Paediatrician. She is very
touchy about the whole episode. The Paed who initially saw the child
went on holiday the next day and the Paed who took up the case claims
that she had no clinical responsibility in the matter as she was only
requested to advise on procedural matters by the Hospital Social worker.
A poor excuse in my view but challenging it will get me no where, even
though the child had Blue/grey sclera, hyper-mobile joints, Large
anterior fontanelle, Prominent forehead and woriam bone on skull x-ray.
I am emotionally drained at the moment having battled with Social
services for the last 3 months. I was very upset when I failed to get
them to recognise that they had dealt with this family in an appalingly
inhumane manor. Were I to accept the logic of their argument and accept
that Registration had to occur, then the very least I would have
expected was a sincere and personal appology to the family when Child
abuse was excluded. Their view is "We did nothing wrong, we followed
the regulations and so there is no need apologise for registering this
child"
Thanks to you all for your interest and responses. It has eased my
pain.
