Our practice agreement allows for up to 1 year sabbatical for every 7
years in practice
Nothing in agreement about what can or can't be done
However principal is that you continue full drawings for the period but
pay full costs of Locum.
If you manage to earn more than your costs then this is paid into the
practice account and shared
Funding depends on what you do ;-)
If you are doing something academic then obvious part solution is
DOH funded Extended study leave scheme which pays about £550 per week
for up to 52 weeks
You need to either be doing a formal supervised research project or a
course. Speak to your regional GP office re details - criteria are in
your Red Book
If you take on a job obviously that could pay
Locum costs for a full time locum plus on call ( see BMA rates - rising
soon)
> I would be very interested to hear from anybody about sabbaticals and
> what people have included (if anything) in partnership agreements.
> eg How often
> How long
> What can and can't be done
> How funded
> Locum costs
> etc
