PCGs are only the jumping boards.
Take this:
- in few short years, all PCGs will be at level 3/4
- meanwhile, some PCGs will merge to create super-PCGs (Harmoni seems
ideally positioned to fly with this)
- in HMO world, 400,000 patients is small stuff, you only need to look
at Kaiser's figures to wet your pants
- those super-PCGs will move quickly to adopt managed care in its
strictest interpretation
- the IT needs for organisations like that are far beyond the
capabilities of NHS E or the surrent system suppliers
- this is because the IT needs have/will have changed into a different
world beyond your wildest dreams
- meanwhile what are we doing? Squibbling about so many petty things
- no siree, I'll just carry on educating myself and widening and
deepening my knowledge :-)
