<<have just watched a depressing exchange in Parliament between government
and opposition about waiting lists and rationing. When will the politicians
start treating this subject intelligently?>>
We willl have intelligent debate when we have intelligent politicians. end
of story. Or am I the only one who sees an inverse relation between IQ and
love of public speaking?
<< Totally disengenuous
statements like Alan Milburn's today which appear to deny the existence of
rationing without actually doing so don't take us anywhere.>>
Isn't he such a disappointment? He has learned fairly quickly how to
flim-flam, bullshit and divert interviewers off the point. I find him quite
disgusting. The only time he seemed genuine over the last few months was
when he supposedly got annoyed at the GPC statement on a decent pay
increase. Pols need frequent reminding of the fact that we elect them and
pay them to do a job for us in the hopes that they will do it more
efficiently than no government and every man for himself. (Disclaimer: use
of male noun and pronoun to save bandwidth.)
On Royal Commissions and airing decisions in Parliament: still leaves us
with the problem of finding people smart enough to debate complicated
things like rationing, resource allocation and effectiveness.
