Our website started as an intranet about 2 years before it actually became
one. I only had it on my PC at the surgery in-between so I put it all on the
web so that anyone else interested can also use it. It has now got larger
than I can post to the web, but the website is otherwise a mirror of what is
on the intranet. Missing is the "important papers" and some executable
files, but otherwise most of it is there.
Our intranet became properly live this weekend with IE4 installed on all
PC's so that the Java and javascript would work. We also use winpopup for
messaging (excellent and simple - in your win95 windows directory) and eBNF.
Next step is internal email. Also recently configured each workstation to be
able to access various printers around the building. Cool! The more I make
the desktop PC useful, the more my partners will use it - process of change!

A few people obviously have these, and they seem to be a coming thing - so
what do you put on them?
do you update them?
do the others use it (if you're not watching)?
is it worth the effort (other than for the dubious pleasure of doing
something "because it's there")?
I'm a few steps down the road of my own practice intranet so would be
interested to hear what others are doing / have achieved.
