Halloooooo?!
I'm sorry I know very little about computing but.... my freinds and
acquaintances (non medical) all say the way the alpha numeric hierachy
is structured is abysmal and non computer logical. As a user it allows
people to put something simple like hypertension in many places. My
patrner and I have to agree a year in advance what we want to audit and
agree the code to use so we find all cases. What hope doing valid
audits NHS wide?
[>] Try looking at http://www,nottingham.ac.uk/gp/chdgp - a national project trying (among other things) to 'harmonise' the use of Read Code in general practice for common conditions where most doctors can agree on a diagnosis. I accept that it gets more tricky in situations of clinical uncertainty, but that's general practice, isn't it?
