How long does it really take to be doing an equal share of the
workload and admin etc. bearing in mind that most people are on shared
lists?
Not very long I suspect.
I get the feeling there is more than a little of the "well I had to do
it so so should you" mentality much like the view of the ageing
consultant regarding his juniors (the only thing wrong with a 1 in 2
is that you miss half of the interesting patients etc.).
So what do you think?

We had to put up with a low start (I took a pay cut to join General Practice)
and three years to parity. Knowing how much it grates, since it became
possible within my partnership, we have had one year to parity and starting at
about 75%. The proviso has been that the incoming partner builds up capital to
the level of the others within two years. This is easy in a relatively low
investment practice with parity after the first year. As a result we have
attracted and kept partners of the highest quality and who are happy and easy
to get on with as they are not being exploited. I appreciate that this is
unusual but it is worth the financial pain.
