I suspect you will still find it alive and kicking in Science
Fiction/Fantasy. I'm mainly referring to the written word although
Babylon 5 is one big metaphor. Somewhere around the mid '70s I used to
get through at least one SF book a week (sadly, I haven't read any SF
for many years now). It was at that time a very rich field with many new
talented authors getting published and presumably that is still the
case. Those that haven't investigated the range of works that get
published under the heading of SF may be under the mistaken impression
that SF is all technology. Couldn't be further from the truth!
