I stand subject to correction on this since I don't even have the
millenium compliant patch kit to take my Novell to 3.20, but my
understanding is that Version 4 is at least as secure in a WAN as
NT, and that version 5 with its native IP networking is capable of
all the things we are being pushed toward NT4/5/2000 to get.
Running two separate fileserver/networking OS' in a single-hhanded
practice seems a little excessive to me, but if I was going to I
would be more inclined to take the old 386 currently running Novell,
and install Linux on that to look after internetworking. Rather
have a dedicated router/hub/ISDN - analogue voice box on the network
though.
