it would seem entirely reasonable for them to choose to fund your
change from a system which does not meet the NHS' requirements to
one which does, and if they choose to why not...
However I suspect they would do better to support you in whatever
seems sensible from a business point of view, as it is likely to be
lots cheaper.
OTOH, they may simply be cheapskate welchers trying to avoid paying
for the systems we are required to have in order to fulfill the
bizarre demands made of us by suits who have neither the time nor
the intellect to make any sense of the information. I which case
you could mention it to a patient or two...the CHC etc
Curious approach, given that the chief exec of the HA is personally
responsible for ensuring you are y2k compatible<g>
