GPs don't treat "what they think you have". We only treat what we KNOW you
have. If after the investigation of what the patient cuold have we don't
get a certain diagnostic, we let the patient know what he PROBABLY has, and
then prescribe an EMPIRIC TREATMENT on that probability. This only happens
in minor diseases. But if we suspect an important disease may be present
the patient will be sent to as many Specialists as it's necessary so that
they investigate the patient's problem. Then, they would do the same than
the GPs but with the difference that they can analyze deeper on the
problem. Unfortunately a Physician is not God, and there's still many
problems we cannot solve. We just do as much as we can.

I'm a Family Practice Physician, and my job consists on analyzing
consultant's problems as deep as I can. Maybe you think Physicians's job is
to make believe people what they have, or maybe you don't believe what
Physicians say you have. I'd like you to be more explicit so that I can
understand you.
