Leaving aside for the moment the probability of the Inland Revenue
rejecting GP's claims to being self-employed, were they working for any
other main contractor than the State...
there is no intrinsic reason why self-employment should preclude
benefits in kind as well as cash, and indeed there is ample reason to
provide services to support the health and efficiency of contractors
upon whom you depend for a service you wish to have provided.
it is of course BMA policy that an occupational health scheme should
extend to all peole working for the NHS.
