<<I know that there are various mentoring schemes around, but my
knowledge of these, on the whole, tell me they are rather pathetic if
not inappropriate attempts at releasing tension of GPs in trouble for
whatever reason.>>
Bandaid on an arterial bleed. Totally pathetic. ANd perhaps the goal is
actually unattainable---ie the goal of convincing GPs to stay in practice
and be satisfied with their lot.
<<Do you think that doctors, given the added forthcomign stresses of
clin.gov, etc. and the aftermath of the Bristol cases, would benefit
from such a service?
Again, who do you think should pay?>>
It depends----combine it with effective "good mental health" strategies
taught in medical school and a good careers review service (come in Sonia
Hutton-Taylor) and make it bloody good---that might work. It would cost a
bomb but then someone needs to sit down and work out the loss to the
economy of RIsks and Foxes et al leaving in their prime.
Who should pay? HMG of course.
