* An Introduction to Qualitative Methods for Health Professionals
- Friday 13th November, 1998
Topics introduced include conducting in-depth interviews, the use of
focus groups, observational methods, validity of qualitative methods and
the systematic interpretative analysis of qualitative data
Led by Drs Madeleine Gantley and Geoff Harding
* The Use and Design of Questionnaires - Wednesday 27th January,
1999
Topics introduced include design of questionnaires, ensuring good
response rates,
the validity and reliability of questionnaire data, the interpretation
of results
Led by Mrs Elaine McColl and Mr Roger Thomas
* Statistical Concepts - Wednesday 3rd March, 1999
Topics introduced include confidence intervals, the difference between
statistical significance and clinical importance, types of analysis and
interpreting tables
Led by Professor Deborah Ashby and Sandra Eldridge
* Randomised Controlled Trials and Conducting Multi Practice
Research - Thursday 4th March, 1999
Topics introduced include the co-ordination of multi-practice RCTs,
calculating costs, the fundamentals of sample size calculations and the
interpretation of results
