>Why do they call *you* Katie?
I think because they know me - school governor + GP to half the pupils.
Sometimes the children are asked to phone themselves (always thought
that odd) and they automatically call me rather than their father.

Once only.

But your holidays must be a nightmare?

I have twice left a patient waiting - when Matthew knocked his front
teeth out, and when Sarah, who has a clotting disorder, had an
horrendous non-stopping nosebleeed. I brought them both back to the
surgery, and when Matthew recovered a receptionist took him back to
school.
>Husband does the food shopping, most of the cooking, and most of the ironing ...
Impressed!
>I think I am a better mother because I am happy and contented

Usually I am too.
Children with working Mothers have a different upbringing, no doubt, but
it is not worse, just different.
