It is interesting to note that one of the many Arabic words for
'spirit' is 'nafss', which translates to 'self'.
It was the 'nafss' that Allah breathed into the 'clot' from whence the
first humans came (yes, I think the Qouran's version of the creation is
the nearest to real biology since it talks of a 'suspended clot')
Another word for spirit is 'rouh', which derives from 'going away' or
'loss'.
