Indeed. And in my opinion, worse than exploitation is denigration. Call
me bitter and twisted if you like, but through the eighties we all knew
we were being 'exploited', in the sense of not being paid what we were
worth, but equally went into the job with eyes open and knowing that we
were going to get a good living , albeit not as good as it should be,
compared to the likes of footballers, management consultants and the
like. However, we enjoyed the job, felt it was worthwhile, and generally
felt that things were improving.
Then along comes Clarke with a heavy-handed,one-sided contract revision
and explains that doctors are only feeling for their wallets.

made hard-working caring people re-apply for their old jobs at lower
rates of pay all in the guise of 'making effective use of money'.
When employers can't tell the value of goodwill, they lose it. That is
why I am prepared to see PCGs running *only* if I am adequately paid,
otherwise I shall do my best to be a hindrance, without breaking rules.
A work-to-rule if you like. As this is an open list I shall not talk
about the other options which are not in the rules.
I feel exploited by the DOH, by the Tories, now by Labour also so it is
time to look after no.1. So Kenneth, well done. I *am* feeling for my
wallet, thanks to you and the DOH cronies who advised you.
Cheerio,
