As a single handed GP I would have no choice but to ignore it even if I
wanted to volunteer. My LMC's guesstimate of the Chairman's commitment to
the board is 3-4 sessions per week taking into account research,
preparation, etc. Have I missed something somewhere? I thought all the other
GPs were "deputies" and the guesstimate for their time is 1-2 sessions per
week. A conservative commitment of (1x3) + (6x1) makes 7 sessions per week
excluding travelling and could be as much as (1x5) + (6x2) = 17 + sessions
per week!
This also neglects the argument that the locums would not actually "clear
the decks" so to speak :-(
Let's face this problem honestly - it all boils down to whether or not one
is committed to making this abomination work at all costs or is prepared to
make a stand for the sake of our profession and indirectly our patients.
