Sorry for displaying yet more higgorance, but can anyone tell me why,
not too long ago, pundits said not to touch the Celeron processor with a
bargepole, 'cos the loss of level2 cache lost in performance far more
than the loss in pounds off the price,but..
I have heard that there was a new 'Mendocino' chip with 128 Mb L2 cache
coming out and indeed the adverts are full of Celeron processors with
L2128 caches. What's going on? Are these Mendocinos? Why don't they say
so? Is it just they've dropped a silly name?
So why is a Celeron processor with L2 cache so much cheaper, and if the
ads are to be believed, faster, than an equivalent Pentium-II?
