In which case
Assume four sessions a month = 46 sessions (52 weeks less six for hols)
Assume two sessions a month = 26 sessions
Katie rate @ £90 per session:
46 sessions = £4140
26 sessions = £2340
Top whack BMA rate (£115 + 3 visits at £7.50 = £137.5 per session)
46 sessions = £6325
26 sessions = £3575
If £3k of the £5.7k board member payment is for locums (the other £2.7k is
presumably to cover preparation, reading papers, compensation to practice
for disruption etc), then it looks like a max of 26 sessions is allowable,
and 22 if you have to pay top rate for locums.
The figures don't really add up, as everyone has noticed. My suggestion is
that rather than everyone take their bats home, they put in a two session
commitment, less hols, which would mean that board members won't have time
to do anything more than attend board meetings, do the corporate goals
stuff, a few liaison meetings, and maybe one or two planning meetings. Looks
like contract meetings are out (shame (-:). Following this route should
ensure that PCGs don't get into the wrong hands and do us all in, but
neither will they exactly flower.
