Sorry, I think I phrased the query badly!
If *I* receive 100 messages in a day,then *I've* generated 1MB of
traffic - is that correct?
If there are 676 (October Review) members on the list, does this
represent 676 MB of traffic in a day?

I agree .. any interface *should* be able to handle that amount of
additional traffic .. *but* .. a 25MB attachment apparently crashed the
Healthlink firewall for a week.
Question remains - could NHSnet handle GP-UK?
