ISPs often give free access at 64k - I had Highway installed last week and
find it is almost twice as fast for sending/receiving email eg 90 GPUK
messages this morning downloaded in less than 1 minute!
Dialup is also silent(good and bad) and can connect in about 5 secs rather
than 30.
I already had ISDN at work so have become addicted to the higher speed and
convenience - working from home at present so worthwhile
BTinternet want 60% more to enable 128k - personally this is unlikely to be of
much benefit unless you do large file downloads on a regular basis and even
then general internet delays may become your bottleneck rather than your
access speed. It won't help your phone bil anyway as you are paying double for
2 phone calls. You might need it for some specialist stuff such as video/audio
streaming
