The quickest way to 'encourage' airlines to pay for our inflight services
is for all doctors to insist the plane is immediately landed 'in the best
interests of the patient'. It would only take a few cases for the airlines
to collectively realise that it is much cheaper to pay us handsomely and
perhaps then we can rethink our position. The 'best' reward I have ever
received is a half empty bottle of wine that probably would have chucked
out anyway. Especially in N America, there is no incentive to provide
medical care other than immediately life-saving interventions & insist the
plane is put down ASAP. How about us all putting the pressure on?
