1. There will probably be an appeal and the amount considerably reduced.
2. I accept the principle given the fascination of our society with the
blame ethos, but not the amount. Having said that, it seems a very
tenuous causal link in this case.
3. The decision should be immediately put to the test by every family
who have lost a husband/wife doctor to suicide (5m ukp), retired to
mental illness (0.5m ukp) or early retirement to stress (0.25m ukp).
These compensations should also be funded from alternate sources rather
than HA budgets.
4. A mischievous point of view may be that she should have been fined
rather than rewarded as she was guilty of the loss of her state funded
medical education through carelesness. ;-)
