Unfortunately though they have a lovely printer et al our senior
district nurse still provides her own mobile phone. They freely admit
that they foresee little real benefit for patients emerging from this
latest piece of technology and the previous piece of technology they
were given for similar purposes lies discarded on the floor having
apparently over a 2 year period never been used! Meanwhile our
submission for additional clerical help for them has been ignored. No
NHS managers, unlike you and I do not spend their own money. Therefore
the 'sub-budget' must be spent even if another 'sub-budget 'is clearly
inadequate. Perhaps PCGs will alter this state of affairs but somehow I
doubt it. The AHA has a similar fascination with IT believing it will
somehow allow them to avoid the overwhelming evidence of underfunding in
coal face personnel.
Roger Leary. GP, Esher, Surrey.
