And I admire him for resigning which is what a whole lot more GP's
should do.
PCG's are a nonsense.
How can what is supposedly a self employed, profit making business
survive as:
1. It is going to be run by a board of people who have no formal
training in management.
2. With no infrastructure or adequate funds to manage.
3. In an environment with ever increasing secondary care dumped on
primary care with no cash to follow.
4. Manpower being take away to manage without adequate remuneration or
adequate cover for the hours (usually a well established partner).
Business sense tell me that when productivity has to rise to meet an
increased manufacturing requirement without adequate resources the
company is doomed.
We are not self-employed business people.
That is a scam to keep us ever-striving to meet targets, which if met,
only amount to what is a fair and reasonable payment for the job. And
if not met, well, that is a bonus to the government who pay us even
less.
If I am going to be a manager it is going to be in a professional
environment with adequate resources.
After six months as a principal in GP, having moved from SR in
hospital medicine, I am leaving the NHS.
I already have an offer from a well established commercial healthcare
company which equals the parity GP figure +car and benefits, for
starters, with a clear promotional ladder ahead of me.
Until the public are educated about how to use the healthcare services
and this country moves into the 20th century re. home visits etc. I
would rather be abused by the senior managers in industry (and be
adequately compensated) than suffer anymore at the hands of the
general public.
Goodnight and thank you.
