Can someone tell me how manufacturers and service providers can sell their
products and services if advertising is not part of their armament? A
plausible answer will be of interest to the entire marketing fraternity.
If we don't advertise our capabilities we cannot expect anyone to beat a
path to our door. Taking an extreme view on advertising leads to a situation
where you are really saying 'we don't wish to know about anything new,
improved, modified, reduced in cost' etc.
Do those who are against receiving PCs, free of charge, decline plastic bags
in the supermarket because they say 'Tesdasburys' on the side?
Even Dr O'Hanlon is going to have to advertise his practice or his
fund-raising events in order to acquire much needed funds... and the very
best of luck to you. One idea... acquire a free PC from Syntegra and raffle
it for £1 per ticket but do look up the regulations on raffles, charities
and fund-raising and the like. You may also find some shops, manufacturers
and service providers locally who may wish to support you by advertising or
providing free gifts for you to include in any raffles or draws.
There is nothing wrong with advertising or selling, it is a 'noble'
profession without which you have no employment and no production in the
vast majority of spheres. It is also a difficult one fraught with many
disappointments. Even in doctoring you may think that the prescription you
have just written is a 'done deal' but we have seen by recent posts that
even that is an unfulfilled 'sale'.
Of course everyone is free to decline any advertising/sponsored gift, it
just seems to me that doing so brings to mind a lot of noses cascading to
the floor as they are cut off.
