This thread is partially relevant to my question regarding fulfilment of
prescriptions. By wasted I assume you mean ones upon which errors are made
which would be destroyed normally. If any 'fraud squad' is trying to account
for *all* prescriptions how on earth can they account for those which are
never presented to a dispensing chemist because the patient can't afford the
fee at the time and then never goes back with it or gets two or more
prescriptions when they only thought they might get one and can't pay for
the others. Lots of reasons for patients not to end up taking prescriptions
to the chemist.
I heard that in the USA as many as 25% of prescriptions go un-fulfilled, I
wondered what the rate is here, if known at all.
