I knew you'd ask
Our HA in conjuntion with a private company "The Office of Public Management"
funded a 11/2 day event where we actually did a simulation of the post April
situation. Folk were invited from all the Stakeholders and were to play their
actual roles in the setup
ie I was a GP on a PCG and really had to express the concerns I had in real
life,
Interesting exercise ......I was amazed it worked as well as it did
BUT
1)We spent more time balancing the bloody books than sorting out patient care
2)The non GPs always bloody complained that we weren't consulting them about
things ........because of the time constraints we just went ahead and sorted
someting out....instead of spending time faffing around trying to get
agreement and explanations
3)However transparent our discussions the Public Forum (Joe, Jane and
Jaswinder Public...) were never happy that they were involved
4)Health Authority Stoodges on PCG boards became very apparent very fast
5)Clinical Governance: we found out there is bugger all you do to a So called
"Maverick" GP
Conclusion at present I am not standing to join a PCG board in any way shape
or form. THis gave me a headache and I am supposed to do this to a minimum of
three days a month
