Agreed. Self-organisation is a kindda cosmic self-preservation
'instinct'.
What attracts me to neural nets is the 'and' premise, whereas most of
our activities these days whether human or machine, subscribe to the
'either/or' premise.
I'll dig out the article I posted here few years back that talked about
the differences between Socrates and Zen.
Socrates 'mechanisms' have dominated our culture (western) for many
centuries. They are, of course, mainly 'either/or' based. Zen, on the
other hand, is pretty much neural but with built-in self-organisation?
I love looking at those wonderful Japanese gardens. Love more to watch
the guys 'doing' the gardens over 1000s of years.
