That is, of course, a matter of opinion. I, for one, have good friends
in accountancy and computing who are intelligent, charming (one is
extremely so), fun to be with and have a breadth of vision which makes
their field seem rich and welcoming. They do not regard their pay as
compensation but neither are they blind as to their worth.

Why does it have to always be a straight choice, there are other
possibilities.

Perhaps they have a valid point, one which happens to disagree with
yours, it seems, but no less valid for that. There is a richness in
human nature that doesn't stop at our own.

For as many different reasons probably as there are GPs.

That is an awfully narrow characterisation of people who are at least
your equal in education and intelligence. There is a popular myth that
suggests the healer is better for being wounded as he/she can only then
recognise the pain of their patient. I happen to believe its much more
than a myth, and almost a necessity in many cases.

Isn't that exactly what they/I/we are trying to do!

Patients aren't helped by narrow mindedness and bigotry. The ease with
which you judge your colleagues suggests a certain lack of adversity in
your own life, for which you should be grateful as it probably will not
last for long, although when you do meet it, it may give you a better
understanding of real life.
