Simply because treating medical care as another service to be offered to
consumers to pick and choose at their convenience, is fine where the
consumers are prepared to pay through the nose, but still does not mean
that they are going to get quality of care. Furthermore, where costs have
got to be contained, it is simply not feasible. Not only that, but it
hardly encourages considerate use of scarce resources, and further
entrenches the 'I-know-my-rights-you-do-what-I-say' attitude.
I suppose what you mean is that if doctors were paid what they are now
to provide a fixed number of hours on a rotational basis etc etc.........which
part of cloud-cuckoo land was it you came from?
