Stuart,
>I agree entirely and the patient must agree to the exchange of information
>as well.
Agreed.
>As a patient can call in at any chemist I see a difficulty if any
>chemist in the country can access any doctor's surgery to check
>the list of drugs the doctor thinks the patient is taking.
I'd also like to see patient registration at pharmacies.
>Perhaps the patient needs to
>let their doctor know which chemists can access their records. The doctor
>can then grant access to those chemists only.
That would be covered by patient registration at pharmacies, or patient held
records.
> The reciprocal arrangement ought to be true as well.
Of course.
>Do you put all the OTC medicines sold on your
>patient records or only the prescribed ones?
For the most part only the prescribed ones, the OTC ones usually only go on
if I want to check for interactions. IMO it should be all.
>I still prefer the smart card
>idea which the patient carries with them.
It's certainly better than the current system, but does depend on patients
carrying their cards.
>Is it still going on in Exmouth?
Pass
