I agree entirely and the patient must agree to the exchange of information
as well. As a patient can call in at any chemist I see a difficulty if any
chemist in the country can access any doctor's surgery to check the list of
drugs the doctor thinks the patient is taking. Perhaps the patient needs to
let their doctor know which chemists can access their records. The doctor
can then grant accces to those chemists only. The reciprical arrangement
ought to be true as well. Do you put all the OTC medicines sold on your
patient records or only the prescribed ones? I still prefer the smart card
idea which the patient carries with them. Is it still going on in Exmouth?
