IPV is used in the UK but my understanding is that the DoH(Green Book)
recommends its use only for:
* babies receiving vaccination while still on SCBU
* patients for whom a live vaccine would be contraindicated eg
immunocompromised.
* patient who are a sibling or household contact of someone who is
immunocompromised
I teach on a fair number of vaccination travel health study days, but, except for
use when recommended as above, I am not aware of any practice nurses/GPs
who give IPV on patient request or routinely use a schedule of OPV followed by
IPV - are there any?
