It was interesting to note that Blunkett justified a 38% pay hike for
the Chief Inspector of Schools (from 87K to 120K) by saying that the
poor chap had to maintain parity with comparable jobs in the regulatory

So, who do you think doctors should achieve parity with?
A middle ranking partner in a City law firm would expect anything
between 150-250K a year, for example.
By the way, the figure mentioned as avergae for GPs (57K) is no where
near the vast majority of GPs make. It is careless talk like that that
makes government and the public believe that we are paid adequately.
