Are there really doctors who pay anyone over 18 UKP 3.90 per hour?
All our co-op staff get at least UKP 5.00 per hour AFAIK. Time plus for
B/hols etc.
Any excuse and we make them shift leaders and pay a bit more.
As far as doctor's income is concerned I think the situation is fairly clear.
A few doctors will take a pay rise and grab all the money they can. Many
of those who call themselves full time are actually working 60 - 80 hours
per week.
Most of the rest of us would use better pay rates to start the move to
working more sensible hours, taking time off when we're sick, providing our
patients with better care, and making *minimal* but very welcome
improvements in our family standard of living.
Target net remuneration should be achievable by < 48hours a week work or
first on call (including education, audit, LMC duties etc.) for < 46 weeks
per year allowing time off for sickness, compassionate leave and maternity
leave.
Pension should be 2/3 pay at 60.
Ill health benefits should be substantially enhanced, especially stress
caused by the job.
If we lose Independent Contractor status I think it would have to be even
better (i.e. more expensive) than that.
In any other job they would call it a cut in working hours (and NO NO NO
the OOH deal wasn't enough, it wasn't really anything).
Get real - yes I agree. And let's hope the government gets real otherwise
whoever is left might find out in a year or three what it's like trying to
cope with lists of 5500 - 6000.
