How about confidentiality of identifiable healthdata?? Sounds boring but
unless we all want to turn into Government Inspectors , HSC1998/089 the
consultation paper on implementation of the caldicott report (WHERE do
they get these catchy titles??) must be dismembered.
The proposed , rather eerily named NHS Strategic Tracing Service will
link together Identifiable personal health info. from many sources- Hosp
I/p and O/P episodes, inc GUM clinics, referrals for investigations , GP
IOS claims etcetc. There has been no effort to address the use of
competent de-identification techniques, which protect medical privacy in
Holland, Germany and NZ.All unethical and some illegal use of data
proposed to produce whats effectively a population register.
Mary Hawkings response which was postedmakes excellent points from the
viewpoint of primary care.. Perhaps you could earnestly mention a couple
at the end of the visit by which time he will doubtless think that you
are an OK chap and a competent doc running a marvellous service. As an
opener you might just looklike a trouble maker!!I bet he doesn't even
know about it-you'll be doing him a good turn.

happy to offer any script to go withthe tea and biccies.
Fleur Fisher-always happy to be a government employee, but never a Govmt
