This document in draft form went out to a number of organisations for
reply in April. BMA was on THAT list.
I will receive today the list of organisations FORMALLY consulted about
this final document in this consultation exercise(100+ I have been
told)in addition to the CEOs of all the NHS Trusts and Health AUTHORITIES
IN ENGLAND. THE CLOSING DATE FOR RESPONSES IS JUNE 30. We might
reasonably expect the IT Committee of the BMA to consider it at their
meeting on June 16---I imagine that they will be accessing the best
possible data security advice to underpin their response for the BMA
Having read HC1998/089 once, am waiting for my BP to settle back down to
recordable levels before I read it again!
A calmly considered comment might emerge later--- HC1998/089 has the
hallmarks of being prepared following deliberations by civil servants
and doctors-- not a data security expert among them as far as I can
judge. Fleur Fisher.
