Re Motions for the LMC conference and the BMA's annual rep meeting: WL
motion sounds worth a go... With all the angst about PHCGs evidenced by
recent postings, assume that the writers WILL go to local BMA Divisional
meetings , accompanied by likeminded friends to ensure that competent
motions on topics close to your heart DO get on LMC or ARM agenda.
If you want to hit the ARM agenda effectively, several motions on the
same topic from round the country are vital.
If confidentiality of identifiable clinical data is still important
to you (AND your patients) specific well-focussed motions to ARM are
essential if the topic is to hit the agenda...Heard Frank Burns give
excellent presentation on new IM&T strategy at HC 98. Confidentiality on
his agenda-though not at the top. Would be imprudent to take it as a
given in the new IM&T strategy without careful examination. The devil
will be in the detail when it is finally revealed ( Frank was
talking on principles not specifics as the politicians have yet to OK the
strategy)
What are the practical IT/confidentiality issues that most worry GPs?
GP/pharmacy links, disease registers, Central Clearing House,
contraceptive claims? ECRs from the new PHCGS?? OR what ?........Just as
one problem is addressed, something else comes out of the woodwork!
Cheers, ...Fleur Fisher (whose salary was formerly paid by BMA
members-THANKS)
