N&E Devon HA appears to be calling for all patients to be referred
to a Cardiologist first. Well, they said "consultant referral" but
since the deaths are cardiac there seems no point sending them to a
Urologist to try to eliminate those who might be eliminated by
Viagra.
I think probably the simplest test is the old 3 mile run in 27
minutes. If they can do that then they should be OK for a few
minutes brisk aerobic exercise and a spot of vasodilation.

I will see it as reality of rationing, when I hear that all out
pateint appointments for erectile failure have been cancelled -
freed for prostate referrals - and that we have been asked to not
prescribe the injections and MUSE for the same range of conditions.
It is logical to remove a category of treatment from the NHS, but
not to remove the single drug which combines the best effect; the
best acceptability; and the lowest cost of the available
altenatives, and does so with the easiest treatment decisions for
the prescriber.
