BMJ had an article by Morris Gallagher on Triage recently. We have
introduced it into our practice and saved 64% of emergency appointments. A
lot of so called emergencies can be easily dealt with over the phone by
advice, so we have found. We have nurse run Triage for 1 hour every
morning. If you want to know more you can E Mail me direct :-)
The Royal college of nursing brought out a recommendation in 1995 that no
nurses should be doing either routine breast checks or pelvic examinations
as it could lull the patients into a false sense of security. I believe the
medical press has recently brought out a similar recommendation.
