Most definitely, usually.
Not a daft reply. I have a 28800 modem on my main machine and a 56k one on
my notebook. In the same phone line at home I get very little difference in
speed, the notebook always manages 33,600 but rarely gets above 44,000.
However, elsewhere I can get nearly twice the speed. At the moment I am the
GP coop with a connection through the hospital switchboard at 50,000. Really
noticeable for file downloads etc. Not much difference for e-mail.
