I did an unusual thing this week. I sat down and read the College Journal
from cover to cover, well I looked at every single page even the ads. And
what did I conclude?
Well apart from the printing cock-ups (some pages missing, others printed
twice) and a few typos the papers were pure unadulterated
how-do-we-get-a-paper-published drivel. The back pages weren't much
better----terribly serious and yet totally lightweight. Has humour been
banned from the journal? Or is no-one capable of writing such anymore?
Jerry C and I could do much better if they paid us! (not a plug)
It beats me what we are paying for if this is the best that British general
practice can produce. Are academics so out of touch with reality that they
cannot think of useful things to research anymore? Or just so befuddled
sniffing each others' bums that they don't know what they are doing?
Any other opinions?
Declan
